The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at the Salt Lake office of state minister Sujit Basu and a restaurant on VIP Road in connection with a money laundering case on October 10. The incident has sparked outrage in West Best politics, as the Election is knocking on the door. This time, Sujit himself opened his mouth about the matter.
What did the minister say about the ED search?
Speaking to the reporters, Sujit Basu said, "They are doing their job. We'll do our job. They had searched before. Nothing matched. Attacking the BJP, he said, "They are attacking us politically. Because they don't have people. A lot of people have said a lot about corruption. There has to be proof! People know everything. My certificate is from the people here.”
Sujit Bose has once again accused the BJP of playing politics by using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In the past, several leaders of the ruling party in the state had alleged that the BJP government at the Centre used central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI against the opposition when the polls were held. However, top BJP leaders have repeatedly denied the allegations.
Significantly, last year too, the ED had raided the residence of the state minister in connection with a probe into allegations of corruption related to the appointment of municipal corporations. At that time, Sujit had claimed that he would resign if it was proved that he had taken a rupee from someone for a job.
