US President Donald Trump is highly optimistic about the Nobel Peace Prize. However, disappointment dripped from his voice regarding the Nobel Committee's past decisions. Just hours before the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner's name, Trump once again took aim at former US President Barack Obama.
Trump's voice carried a sarcastic tone again regarding the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, "Obama received the peace prize for doing nothing and instead taking steps that would destroy America. Everything he does is supposedly good." While speaking to journalists, the current US President claimed that Obama was not a good president at all.
On Thursday as well, US President Donald Trump presented himself as a worthy candidate for the peace prize. In his words, "I have stopped eight wars, this has never happened before - but they (Nobel Committee) have to do what they have to do. Whatever they do is right. However, I didn't do anything to win something. This step is to save people's lives. But Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize without breaking a sweat, just upon taking the presidential office."
It doesn't end here. Mocking Obama Trump further said, "Actually he received it for doing nothing at all. Obama doesn't even know why he was elected. The prize was actually given to Obama for doing absolutely nothing except destroying our country."
It should be noted that Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. The Nobel Prize winner's name was announced just eight months after taking the President's chair. The Committee said, Barack Obama was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
