US President Donald Trump was quite optimistic about the Nobel Peace Prize. However, disappointment surfaced in his voice regarding the Nobel Committee's past decisions. Just hours before the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner's name, Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama was once again in Trump's crosshairs.
Trump's voice took on a sarcastic tone again regarding former US President Barack Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, 'Obama received the peace prize for doing nothing and instead taking steps that pushed America toward destruction. Whatever he does is supposedly good.' While speaking to reporters, the current US President claimed that Obama was not a good president at all.
On Thursday as well, Trump presented himself as a worthy candidate for the peace prize. In his words, “I have stopped eight wars. This has never happened before – but they (Nobel Committee) will do what they want to do. Whatever they do is right. However, I didn't do anything to win something. This step was taken to save people's lives. But Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize as soon as he took the presidential office without breaking a sweat.”
This is not the end, Trump's sarcasm targeting Obama reached even further. The reigning President said, “Actually, he received it for doing nothing at all. Obama doesn't even know why he was selected. Obama was actually given the prize for doing absolutely nothing, except destroying our country.”
It is noteworthy that Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. The Committee said that Barack Obama was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for his 'extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation among people.'
