Diwali Celebration in North Carolina turned into a full-on Bollywood fiesta as two US Mayors stole the spotlight with their dance. During Hum Sub Diwali, Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht and Morrisville Mayor TJ Cawley shared the stage with dancers of the Taal Harmony Dance Group, grooving to all-time favourite Bollywood hits 'Chunari Chunari’ and ‘Kaho naa pyaar hai.’ The audience was cheering nonstop as the mayors danced in sync to the Indian beat, reiterating that dance indeed is borderless.

Organisers applaud the spirit of togetherness

The organisers posted a lively video on Instagram, adding, " This year’s Hum Sub Diwali event was truly a celebration of togetherness and cultural pride! The highlight of the evening was when Mayor Harold Weinbrecht (Cary) and Mayor TJ Cawley (Morrisville) joined hands along with council members Sarika Bansal, Lori Bush, Michelle Craig, and a few others along with Cary and Morrisville Staff members who participated in the performances choreographed by 'Taal Harmony Dance Group' to groove to the beats of India! "

They further added, " Their energetic participation symbolised more than just a dance - it showcased how our local leaders are embracing and celebrating the rich diversity that makes our Triangle area so special. Through this collaboration, they helped spotlight the beauty of Indian traditions, rhythms, and community spirit right here in North Carolina.” The post went on saying, “Moments like these remind us that Diwali’s true light shines brightest when we celebrate as one community - beyond borders and backgrounds.”

Mayor TJ Cawley shared his joy

Later, Mayor Cawley also posted his enthusiasm on social media, saying, "Hum Sub Diwali is always one of my favourite events of the year and I had a great time dancing with staff and fellow elected officials from Cary and @townofmorrisvillenc." He also added that he met young success stories and families, stating, " I had the chance to speak with those who won the youth leadership awards, Sana, Aditya Narayan, the other performers, vendors, and families at the event and had a great time, despite some rain! Looking forward to next year.”
