“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride”: The famous dialogue of Aunt May from Spider-Man 2 resonates deeply with the story of Russel Jeyadi, the founder of ‘Rowd Chawsma’. In 2021, during Corona time, ‘Rowd Chawsma’ started an initiative to help people who need new spectacles and also to help people who have eye problems. Russell Jayedi understood the problem and created his new business venture along with his childhood friend, Khusru Sumon, named ‘Rowd Chawsma’, and in 2025, they created a new fashion trend with the wooden frames of Spectacles. A spectacle is a daily wear for many people, bringing innovation to this could be a game-changer.

News Ei Samay reached out to the founder, Russell Jeyadi, and he said that he is in love with making wooden frames and really enjoys his work. He also added that when they started to think about starting the venture, they were not really happy with the products, as there was nothing new, so they began to think of something that would be their own, and they found the concept of the wooden frame.

In 2022, a Spanish lady taught them a key technique for the process to make the wood thin.

“That was the turning point,” Russel recalls, “Making a wooden frame is not easy; it has to be cut evenly from every angle and needs to be compressed with a structure of wood for seven days, to give the shape”.

The venture's breakthrough moment came in 2024, when a man bought two spectacles for 2500 taka (Bangladeshi currency) and was ready to offer more. According to Russell, "This was the first time I understood that this product was scalable, and I started to make it with more efficiency, but at that time, the product was not so popular, so we were unable to sell more than 40-50 products in a month.”

Earlier this year, a Facebook page promoted their product, and suddenly, the product became a trend in Bangladesh. Russell said that they got a minimum order of 1000 products from Kolkata only. And now they have a team of 7-8 people who help to make 400-500 wooden frames in a month. Their wooden frame is not only their USP, but they have 16 designs with 3 variants, a total of 48 products, including various sizes.

Russell also thinks that if the relationship between Bangladesh and India stayed good, they would be able to sell more products in India.

Apart from being an entrepreneur, Russell is also a filmmaker. He recently made an animation film named Garjanpurer Bagha with the help of Government Funding. The Dhaka entrepreneur is setting a trend and bringing innovation in style and modernity. Check out their official Facebook page.
