To restore peace in West Asia, the Gaza Peace Summit is set to convene on Monday, October 13, in Egypt's Sharm El Sheik city. At the initiative of America and Egypt, heads of state from nearly 20 countries around the world will gather there. Such a report has been published in The Indian Express, citing sources.
According to that report, US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi invited Modi on Saturday. However, whether Modi will attend that conference on Monday has not yet been disclosed by the Prime Minister's Office.
The Gaza Summit will be held on Monday afternoon at the Red Sea Resort in Sharm El Sheikh city with the aim of establishing peace in West Asia by ending the war in the Gaza Strip. The presidents of Egypt and America will jointly lead that meeting. Apart from heads of state and diplomats from multiple West Asian countries, heads of state from European countries like France, Britain, and Spain will also be present there. Three Qatari diplomats died in a road accident while traveling to attend this meeting.
Regarding this summit, the spokesperson for the Egyptian President said in a statement, “The summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to bring peace and stability to the region, and usher in a new phase of security.”
No confirmation has come so far regarding Modi's participation in this meeting. However, if Modi attends this conference, it will open doors to great possibilities in India's diplomatic arena. India will be able to present its position on the Palestine issue once again before the world. Alongside this, if he goes to this summit, Modi will meet with Trump.
Relations between India and America have deteriorated after the imposition of 50 percent tariffs on Indian goods. Trump's administration has recently taken the initiative to repair that damage. If Modi goes to this summit, the work of easing relations between India and America could gain momentum. Alongside this, India will also have the opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt.
