Fed up with the services of widely used private app cab platforms? Your worries are about to ease.
The Centre announced on Tuesday that preparations are underway to soon launch a new ride-hailing platform called 'Bharat Taxi' based on a cooperative model. The main objective of this platform will be to maintain transparency in fares and secure drivers' income.
The government has stated that, policy-wise, it will be completely different from the current private aggregators.

This app is also set to be quite profitable for drivers. Because drivers will be able to keep almost the entire fare from each ride for themselves. They will only need to pay a nominal platform fee for using the app. The new system is expected to significantly reduce the uncertainty that has long been complained about regarding private companies suddenly increasing commission rates, unknown deductions, and sudden policy changes.
According to some experts, this will allow drivers to work as they wish. At the same time, their stable income and professional security will increase. Keeping passengers' convenience in mind, 'surge pricing' is not being included in Bharat Taxi.
However, the success of 'Bharat Taxi' depends on how quickly a large portion of drivers can be brought under this platform and its ability to compete with currently popular cab apps.
