A man returned home after nearly 40 years of leaving to perform a religious ritual. His name is Mohammad Salman. His home is in the Rajarhat More area of the Mainaguri block. However, he is now a resident of Uttarakhand. Seventeen years ago, Salman's father Sophia Rahman sent him to Delhi to perform 'Chilla' (a Muslim religious ritual). He returned home after 37 days. But since the prescribed 40 days were not completed, his father sent him back to Delhi to perform 'Chilla' again. After that, Salman never returned. Despite extensive searches, his family could not trace him.

When he suddenly came home on Tuesday, everyone was initially shocked. Later, however, family members were overjoyed. Upon hearing the news, many people came to see Salman. Salman's mother Solema Khatun said, “I never thought I would see my son again”.
His brother Safiulla Alam said, “We searched a lot for brother but couldn't find him. Today everyone is happy to have brother back.”
Salman said, “After going to Delhi the second time, something happened to me. As a result, I don't remember anything from that time.”
He said his treatment continued for quite some time at a hospital in Delhi. Later, after recovering from there, he went to Piran Kaliyar in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand with a person. He is now a temporary worker in the district magistrate's office there.
Salman has come home taking seven days' leave. He will return to Uttarakhand afterwards. Meanwhile, due to the commotion over Salman, Bhotpatti police station called him in. Police examined his citizenship matter and released him.
