As fans of Emily in Paris buzz over Mindy and Alfie's shocking Season 5 arc, Ashley Park has opened up, sharing how this upcoming chapter has continued to surprise her. Park, 34, spoke exclusively to Us Weekly while promoting her partnership with Planet Oat for its new White Chocolate Raspberry Oatmilk Creamer inspired by the hit Netflix series. The interview landed on the same day Netflix dropped the official Season 5 trailer.
"They just came out with the (first look])photos and the trailer. Now I get to talk about Emily in Paris and Planet Oat, which is something I love," she said. "This is fun, but there's a lot (fans can expect when the season is out)."
Hints toward Mindy's new direction
Park didn't give away plot details, but teased that audiences are going to get “a lot of context" when the new season drops on December 18. She said the twist felt surprising yet fitting. " What’s fun though is this feels like it came out of left field, but also, Lucien (Laviscount) is one of my best friends on the show," she said. " So we were always laughing about how we love hanging out, but we don’t have scenes together. It made it really fun this year."
The first trailer teased the complicated love storyline involving Emily in Rome, but Mindy's return to Paris - and her warm chemistry with Alfie - quickly stole fan attention.
'I never know what to expect'
Park admitted the season pushed her in unexpected directions. “I would say that the show keeps surprising me. I did not see Mindy’s story lines in season 5 coming. Even with the first photos from the season being released, I’m remembering all the stuff we did,” she said. “I feel like I got to be in eight different genres of shows all in one. What else could you ask for? So I never know what to expect.”
She added, "I’ve just really stopped expecting. But also when we’re going to Venice for two weeks to film, it feels like such a pinch-me moment. They really keep us on her toes. "
Celebrating season 5 with Planet Oat
Park’s new partnership with Planet Oat coincides with the release of the limited-edition White Chocolate Raspberry Oatmilk Creamer, tied to the season premiere. “I’m a huge white chocolate lover, and also a raspberry lover. I feel like my love for raspberry really came to fruition when I went to Paris for the first time. They have just the best berries,” she said, praising both the flavor and her longtime preference for non-dairy milk as a singer. Planet Oat's newest creamer will hit stores on December 18, along with the show's highly anticipated return.
