The winter session of the Lok Sabha is underway. From SIR to the Delhi blast, opposition parties have girded themselves to keep the BJP under pressure on multiple issues. Now, amid this, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is going on another foreign tour from December 15. The BJP has started taunting him over this. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has taken a dig at Rahul, calling him the "leader of tourism".

It is not a new allegation from the BJP that Rahul Gandhi enters the political arena only when there are elections, and spends the rest of his time vacationing abroad. The BJP had raised this same allegation just a few months ago during the Bihar assembly elections. Assembly elections are scheduled in multiple states early next year. Before that, the Lok Sabha session is very important. The BJP has not refrained from criticising Rahul's foreign tour during this ongoing session.
In a post, Shehzad says, "The foreign hero is going on another foreign tour." He says the Congress leadership regularly keeps itself absent during important political moments. "When he (Rahul) loses elections, he says, why are we losing elections? But his mind is not among the people. His mind is on travel. Only on foreign tours," he added. It may be noted that Rahul is going on a Germany tour from December 15 to 20. Rahul will be accompanied by Indian Overseas Congress Chairperson Sam Pitroda. Indian representatives will participate in discussion meetings with ministers of the German government.

However, Congress MP and Rahul Gandhi's sister Priyanka Gandhi has criticised this allegation by the BJP. In her words, "Modi ji spends half his working time abroad. How can they raise questions about Rahul's foreign tours?" The Congress MP says, "When the BJP cannot find answers to the questions of the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, they are saying all this to mislead people."
