The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the appointment of Bihar minister Nitin Nabin as its National Working President, effective immediately. Nabin is currently a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, holding the Road Construction portfolio.

An official order issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said the decision was approved by the party’s Parliamentary Board. “The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Shri Nitin Nabin, Minister, Government of Bihar, as the National Working President of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” the order said.

Nitin Nabin was born on May 23, 1980, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He is the son of late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a senior BJP leader and former MLA. Nabin entered active politics after his father’s death and gradually rose within the party organisation.

He is a five-time MLA from the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna. Nabin first entered the Bihar Assembly through a by-election in 2006 and has retained the seat in the 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025 elections. In the 2025 Assembly polls, he won Bankipur by a margin of more than 52,000 votes.

Apart from his ministerial role, Nabin has handled several organisational responsibilities within the BJP. These include serving as national general secretary and state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, as well as organisational and election in-charge roles in states such as Sikkim and Chhattisgarh.
