Early Wednesday morning, bomb threat emails were sent to at least eight private schools in Gurugram, prompting campus checks and security alerts throughout the city. The emails were received around 7.08 am, which prompted immediate action by school authorities and law enforcement agencies.

As per a report by the Hindustan Times, schools that reported receiving the threat include Kunskapsskolan School in DLF Phase-1, Lancer’s School in Sector 53, Pathways World School in Badshahpur, and Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Sector 64, among others.

Police deployment and safety protocols activated

“Upon receiving the information, police teams immediately reached the spots, and security protocols were activated. SDRF [State Disaster Response Force]...has also been called in to assist and is currently on task,” the district administration said in a statement

Police officials confirmed that no suspicious object was found during the initial checks. “All necessary precautionary measures are being taken, and the premises are being thoroughly checked as per protocol,” Hindustan Times quoted a police officer as saying.

The report also stated that several schools informed parents about the threat through official messages, describing the emails as appearing to be a hoax. Parents were assured that student safety remained the top priority and that police teams were deployed on campus.

As the combing process was expected to take time, bus services were suspended. Students who had already arrived were sent back, with parents requested to collect them from designated bus stops. Parents who had not yet dropped their children off were advised to return home. Schools assured that students who were already on campus were safe and under supervision.

Students kept calm during checks

An official from one of the schools, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “We activated standard safety protocols immediately. Students were kept calm and under supervision while police teams carried out their checks. There was no panic on the campus.”

Cyber team traces source of emails

Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said the cybercrime unit has launched an investigation to trace the sender and determine the origin of the emails. “Our cyber team is tracing the sender of the email and analysing its origin. The investigation is underway, and strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.”

Meanwhile, Kunskapsskolan Schools director Kunal Bhadoo said, “We are advised to keep students out of the building until the campuses are screened. Given cold weather conditions, not practical to hold children outdoors for such a long spell. Hence have declared a holiday.”
