Excessive cold disrupts blood circulation in the body. Adequate blood does not reach the heart. The risk of heart attack or stroke increases. However, doctors say those whose heart arteries are not wide, or who have any kind of plaque or blockage, face even greater danger. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that approximately 17.9 million people worldwide die from cardiovascular diseases each year.

Arterial blockage is often identified by many as a 'silent killer'. In medical terminology, this is called Atherosclerosis. Is it possible to detect this from the outside? Doctors say when arterial flexibility decreases and fatty substances begin to accumulate on the inner walls, blood circulation becomes impaired. There are no specific symptoms in the early stages. Initially, the inner lining of the artery gets damaged. Inflammation deepens this damage further. Bad cholesterol or fatty substances in the blood begin to accumulate on the arterial walls. Naturally, the arterial pathway starts to narrow.

Who is at higher risk?

Those suffering from high blood pressure problems need to be cautious.

If bad cholesterol levels in the blood are high, there is also a risk of blockage.
