Ahead of the upcoming Bengal Assembly Elections, Trinamool Congress leaders and workers of the Balagarh Assembly constituency organised a rally on Saturday, alleging a conspiracy to harass common people and to remove their names from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) list. The procession began at Tribeni Township Golpark and passed through Balagarh Insura, Ektarpur and Hoera Digsui, from Naksha intersection to Mogra No. 1 and Mogra 2, before concluding in the Saptagram area of the Saptagram Assembly constituency.

TMC calls for unity to strengthen base in Balagarh
Previously, factional clashes among local Trinamool leaders and workers in Balagarh have been reported. Despite instructions from the party’s top leadership, internal differences have continued, affecting organisational cohesion in the area. Political observers note that such divisions have provided space for opposition parties, including the BJP, to strengthen their presence in Balagarh.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool candidate Rachna Banerjee won the Hooghly Lok Sabha seat but trailed in the Balagarh and neighbouring Saptagram Assembly segments. Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the party leadership has reportedly asked local leaders and workers in Balagarh and Saptagram to set aside differences and work together.
Rally aimed at organisational consolidation
To demonstrate organisational strength, the Trinamool Congress organised vehicle rallies in the Balagarh and Saptagram Assembly segments.
Former Balagarh block president Shyama Prasad Roy Bandyopadhyay said, “When the party grows, misunderstandings arise. The opposition will not be given any more opportunities. We will fight together in the Assembly elections.”

Trade union leader Manoj Chakraborty said, “The party candidates will win in all the Assembly constituencies in Balagarh and Saptagram by a huge margin.”
Reacting to the rally, BJP state leader Swapan Pal said, “People have rejected the Trinamool. No matter how many rallies or processions are held, they will not return to power.”
