The Kolkata International Book Fair begins on January 22. This book fair will be held at Central Park fairgrounds near Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, i.e., in the book fair premises. It will continue until February 3. A press conference was held on Monday regarding various details of the book fair, where various matters about the 2026 book fair were also announced.
When is the inauguration?
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the book fair on January 22. Argentine writer Gustavo Cansobre will attend the inauguration. Argentine Ambassador to India Mariano Caucino will also be present.

This year's Kolkata International Book Fair's focal theme country is Argentina
This year's book fair will have more than 1000 stalls
More than 20 countries are participating in the book fair
Literature Festival will be held on January 25-26
There will be a special Metro booth at the book fair from where tickets can be purchased through UPI
Any stall within the book fair can be found through the book fair app with the help of Google location
Discussion meetings for the birth centenary of Bhupen Hazarika and Salil Chowdhury will be held on January 26 and 27
Total 9 gates at the book fair:
This year's Kolkata Book Fair will have a total of 9 entry gates. Among these, 2 gates will be modeled after some art-architecture of Argentina
There will be 2 gates or entrances named after Pratul Mukhopadhyay and Prafulla Roy
There will be a gate in memory of writer Shailjananda Mukhopadhyay on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary

No Bangladesh stall
Bangladesh has participated in the Kolkata Book Fair since 1996. After the change of government in that country, Bangladesh did not participate in 2025. It is not participating this time either.
