Allegations have emerged in Bangladesh of a young man being beaten to death. According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Samir Das (28). The incident occurred on Sunday night in Dagonbhuiyan, Chittagong. Police have launched a search operation to find the accused. The incident has sparked tension in Bangladesh.
According to police sources, Samir was returning home by auto-rickshaw on Sunday night. It is alleged that a group of miscreants pounced on him near the Dagonbhuiyan market. First, he was severely beaten. Finally, the miscreants attacked him indiscriminately with knives. Samir collapsed in a bloodied state. He died at the scene. It has also been alleged that after the murder, the miscreants snatched Samir's auto-rickshaw and fled.

An officer from Dagonbhuiyan police station believes the murder was premeditated. He said, "Samir was killed by beating and hacking with indigenous weapons. Preliminarily, this appears to be a premeditated murder. After the killing, the accused also fled with the auto-rickshaw. Police have launched a search operation to catch the accused."
Bangladesh has been tense since the July movement. Allegations suggest that attacks on religious minorities have increased significantly. However, it is not yet known whether there is any connection with Samir's murder. However, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has expressed deep concern over the increasing attacks on minority communities across the country. They claim that incidents of communal violence are gradually increasing ahead of the general elections in February.
