Devdutt Padikkal set new record
He had already scored 640 runs in seven innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He needed 60 more runs to cross the 700-run mark. On Monday, in the match against Mumbai, he touched that milestone. The cricketer remained unbeaten on 81 runs off 95 balls. His innings included 11 boundaries. After completing 700 runs, his teammates applauded him with appreciation.

Earlier, five cricketers had the record of scoring 700 or more runs in one season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Narayan Jagadeesan, Karun Nair and Padikkal himself had created this record. However, he crossed that mark again and created a new record. He became the first cricketer to cross the 700-run mark twice in this tournament.
VJD method played a big role
Batting first, Mumbai scored 254 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. In the top order, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Musheer Khan did not get big scores. However, Shams Mulani played an innings of 86 runs off 91 balls. Captain Siddhesh Lad scored 38 runs off 58 balls. Coming in at number ten, Sairaj Patil scored 33 runs.

Chasing 255 runs, opener Mayank Agarwal returned for 12 runs. After that, Devdutt Padikkal and Karun Nair formed a big partnership. When Karnataka's score was 187 for one wicket in 33 overs, bad light and rain affected the game. Later, Karnataka was declared the winner by 55 runs under the VJD method. Padikkal remained unbeaten on 81 runs. Karun Nair accompanied him with an unbeaten innings of 74 runs off 80 balls.
