Srinath Reddy, a resident of Talamadla village in Telangana’s Kamareddy district, was found dead in his room in London on June 23.

The 25-year-old had moved to the United Kingdom around 14 months ago for higher studies and was pursuing a master’s degree at De Montfort University in Leicester, according to family members. The family says the death has left them searching for answers, while the circumstances behind it remain unconfirmed.

Conversation before the tragedy

According to the family, Srinath spoke to them on the night of June 22 and appeared normal during the call.

His father, Madhusudan Reddy, said Srinath later attended a birthday gathering that same night. A relative told reporters that Srinath’s roommate found him dead the next morning and later informed friends; the family said it learned of the incident only later through acquaintances.

One report said the roommate claimed Srinath had died by suicide, while another said he allegedly hung himself, but no official cause of death has been publicly confirmed.

Family seeks answers and assistance

Madhusudan Reddy has appealed to both the Union government and the Telangana government to intervene and speed up the return of his son’s body.

He was quoted as saying, "We still do not know what exactly happened. We request the Central and Telangana governments to help bring our son's body back home at the earliest,” while another said the family wanted the remains repatriated as soon as possible.

Reports also said the family is awaiting official communication and has asked authorities to coordinate with the relevant agencies in the United Kingdom.

The case has drawn concern in Talamadla village, where the family resides, as well as among people following the student’s death abroad. As of the latest reports, UK authorities had not issued a public statement on the matter, and the cause of death had not been officially disclosed.
