Gold and silver prices had declined considerably since the beginning of February. As a result, the prices of these two precious metals came down from record levels. This brought some relief to jewellery lovers. After that, although there were some fluctuations in the prices of the two metals, the extent was minimal. But on the last day of February, gold and silver prices jumped up again.
On Saturday, the price of 24-carat pure gold per 10 grams increased to 9,350 rupees in Kolkata's market. The price of 22-carat gold per 10 grams increased to 8,950 rupees in Kolkata's market. The price of silver per kilogram increased to 24,000 rupees.

Gold rates in Kolkata market on Saturday: (excluding taxes)
Pure gold bar (24 carat): 1 lakh 68 thousand 800 rupees (per 10 grams)
Pure gold bar (retail): 1 lakh 69 thousand 650 rupees (per 10 grams)
Hallmarked jewellery gold (22 carat): 1 lakh 61 thousand 250 rupees (per 10 grams)
Silver (retail): 2 lakh 92 thousand 700 rupees (per kilogram)

You will not be able to buy gold at these rates when you go to the market. It will cost somewhat more than these rates. Because GST and jewellery-making charges will be added to these rates. Although GST is fixed at 3 per cent, these charges may vary from store to store.
