The country's largest domestic airline in passenger service is now facing a crisis. For three days, more than 1,000 flights have been cancelled. The condition of passengers stranded at airports presents an even more distressing picture. On Friday evening, IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers apologised in a public video message. He stated that efforts are underway to reduce the problems. However, Elbers' words gave an ominous indication that the situation will not be completely normal on Saturday either.
Breaking every record, the number of flights cancelled reached a thousand on this day. Elbers apologised and said that more than half of the daily flights were cancelled today. However, he hopes the situation will somewhat stabilise on Saturday. According to him, the problem will be resolved by December 15.

The IndiGo CEO said on this day that, unfortunately, the steps taken over the past few days have not provided a solution. Therefore, the airline has decided today to review all its systems and schedules again, resulting in the highest number of flight cancellations so far. However, tomorrow the number of flight cancellations will remain below 1,000. DGCA's assistance with specific FDTL will greatly help in solving this issue.
Why did IndiGo's flight operations get disrupted?
According to a Reuters report, Elbers stated in an email on Thursday that several 'operational' problems have emerged simultaneously. And that is the reason for this situation. The main one among these is the new Flight Duty Time Limit rules for pilots that became effective on November 1.
There was time from last June to prepare for this. Even then, the company is struggling to adapt to the new rostering system. Elbers claims that adverse weather, technical glitches, and air traffic jams have been added to this. Combining all of these, an adverse situation has been created.
