On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the Opposition to perform their job of delivering results in Parliament rather than indulging in “drama.” PM Modi, speaking ahead of the commencement of the Winter Session, has said India has a living democracy, strengthened faith in it, and highlighted the Bihar election turnout as a display of the power of Indian democracy, particularly noting women’s participation.
'There should be delivery here and not drama'
Taking a swipe at the Opposition over its recent Bihar election setback, PM Modi said he hoped opposition leaders would have come to terms with the loss, but their statements indicate otherwise. He appealed to them, saying, “Whoever wants to do drama can do it. There should be delivery here and not drama. The emphasis should be on policy, not slogans", ANI reported.

He further extended a veiled offer of assistance when he said he was willing to give "tips" to the Opposition on how they can change strategies and perform better, while urging them to revamp their course of action after failing to make a mark in elections.
The BJP-led NDA has just swept the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, securing as many as 202 of the 243 seats. The Congress-led Mahagathbandhan, or the INDIA bloc, was restricted to 35 wins. PM Modi has also called upon his alliance not to allow this victory to turn into arrogance.
Winter session set for stormy debut
As per the report by The Hindustan Times, a stormy Winter Session is in the offing, with the Opposition adamant that there should be a debate over the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, while the government seems reluctant to give its nod for a discussion on the SIR exercise. The Centre has listed 10 new bills for introduction and decided to hold a discussion on 150 years of Vande Mataram.

SIR was the dominant theme of Opposition demands in meetings on Sunday, including an all-party meet chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Business Advisory Committee meetings of both Houses. SP lawmaker Ramgopal Yadav warned that the House would not function without a debate on SIR, while others said if the House did not run, it would be the government's responsibility.
"On behalf of the government, I assure that we will continue to discuss in order to run smoothly. In a democracy, there are differences between the parties. Despite differences, the House should not be disturbed to improve productivity," said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The Winter Session of Parliament began on Monday and will conclude on December 19.
