India is all set to witness history as the Union Budget for the 2026–27 financial year has been announced to be presented on Sunday, 1 February 2026. In recent years, the Union Budget has been tabled on 1 February, establishing this date as a standard.
A similar trend is also going to be followed for the 2026–27 financial year. However, this year’s Budget will be historic, as it is set to be presented on a Sunday for the first time.

Since 2017, the Union Budget has been presented on February 1, ending the earlier tradition of tabling it at the end of February. This year, with February 1 falling on a Sunday, there was speculation that the government might consider shifting the date.
Last year, in 2025, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget on Saturday. Similarly, the Union Budget of 2015 and 2016 were presented consecutively by the then-Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday. Along with that, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to etch her name in the pages of history, presenting the Union Budget for the eighth consecutive time.
