Is it difficult to be alone throughout your life? Only those who have chosen "singlehood" can answer that. Some people are single by choice, others are single due to circumstances, or they may just have not found the right partner. Nowadays, however, many people consciously choose to stay single. But why are people choosing to live alone? A recent survey throws light on this.

Recently, an Indian dating app surveyed single people. It found that 29% of singles said they sometimes feel lonely, even while staying alone. Even though the digital era has connected everybody, they still feel lonely at times. On the other hand, 16% of respondents reported that they chose to stay single deliberately so that no one could interfere in their lives. In other words, they wanted the freedom to live life on their own terms.

Singlehood is not the same for everyone. Being single means something different for Gen Z, who are more digitally exposed. About 31% of Gen Z respondents reported that when they are single, they feel lonelier, while this generation is highly aware of personal freedom. On the other hand, 25% of millennials believe that they remain single because they have not yet found the right life partner, and they would rather wait until the right person comes along.

Today, most people choose to be single out of free will. They know how to enjoy their life without a partner. However, that doesn't mean they expect to stay that way all their lives. Many are enjoying their single life, yet are open to choosing a partner if they meet the right person.
