Jeans are a type of clothing that becomes more comfortable the more you wear them. This garment is suitable for everything from casual wear at the office to parties with friends. However, it is important to be careful when washing jeans. Washing jeans incorrectly causes the colour to fade quickly. The fabric gets damaged rapidly. With proper care, jeans can maintain their shine like new for years. How should you wash jeans?

Here are some correct tips:

Don't wash frequently

There's no need to wash jeans after every wear. Excessive washing damages the colour and fabric. Generally, washing after wearing 5-6 times is sufficient. If stains appear or there's an odour, spot-cleaning is enough.

Wash inside out

To prevent jeans from fading, always wash them inside out. Special attention should be paid to reducing friction on the outer side of the denim.

Wash in cold water

Jeans should never be washed in hot water. This causes the colour to come out along with the dirt. The colour loss damages the jeans' fibres. Therefore, always wash in cold water.

Use detergent

Harsh detergents contain bleaching agents that ruin the colour. Therefore, liquid mild detergent can be used. If you want, you can mix a little vinegar with water and wash. This keeps the colour good.

Be careful with washing machines

You can wash jeans in a washing machine. However, choose the delicate mode or gentle cycle. Excessive spinning in the machine is also not good for denim.

Wearing the same jeans repeatedly

There are piles of jeans in the wardrobe. Many people wash and wear the same jeans repeatedly. But this habit is not good at all. Even with repeated washing, jeans can develop fuzz, and the colour can get ruined.

Don't put it in direct sunlight

Drying in sunlight causes colours to fade quickly. Therefore, dry in shade or indoors with air circulation. It doesn't matter if it takes more time.

Avoid dryers

The excessive heat of dryers shrinks jeans and reduces fabric durability. It's better not to iron jeans unless absolutely necessary. If you must iron, do it inside out on low heat. Jeans stay better when hung rather than folded.
