Drinking too much water after dinner can lead to frequent urination, disrupting a good night's sleep. Those who have diabetes also frequently experience the urge to urinate. However, if sleep is disrupted almost daily in the middle of the night without any such reason, then that is considered abnormal by a section of doctors. They say such symptoms can occur due to excessive stress.
American cardiologist Sanjay Bhojraj says such problems occur when cortisol hormone levels in the body increase abnormally. This hormone plays a significant role in increased stress. There can be various reasons for waking up in the middle of the night. However, many people do not give importance to a common issue like stress or mental pressure. Generally, stress hormone or cortisol levels are highest after waking up from sleep. But if sleep is repeatedly disrupted around midnight or 1-2 AM without any reason, one must certainly be alert. Doctors believe issues like mental pressure and anxiety should not be avoided at all.

Dr Sanjay has informed that during sleep, the human body remains in a 'parasympathetic' (Rest & Repair) state almost throughout the night. But when stress hormone levels keep increasing, inflammation in the body also increases. Blood sugar levels also fluctuate. Metabolism gradually deteriorates. When the normal rhythm of sleep is disrupted, increased mental pressure is not abnormal. Therefore, there is no reason to take the incident of waking up in the middle of the night very casually.
