Daily arguments over going to school can exhaust any parent. The child refuses to wake up, and even after getting up, keeps giving excuses. The crying and resistance continue until finally the child is forced to go to school. But this routine is unhealthy. Repeated conflict makes children stubborn, and they begin to come up with new excuses every day. As a result, they often reach school late. To avoid this situation, follow these three simple strategies.

Find the root cause

Try to understand why your child doesn’t want to go to school. Find out whether something is bothering them at school. If needed, talk to the teachers and classmates. There may be a specific reason behind their reluctance. Identify the cause and try to address it. Inform the school teachers as well. Often, teachers can help increase a child’s interest in school.

Avoid scolding

Too much scolding or hitting will only make the child more stubborn. They will resist even more. Instead, talk gently and explain the importance of going to school. Tell them what problems arise when they skip school and what fun things they might miss. Do not wait until the morning rush. Make this a gentle, ongoing conversation throughout the day.

Don’t create pressure about studies

Every child learns at their own pace. If you constantly pressure them about studies, fear and anxiety develop. Naturally, the child will want to avoid school out of fear of lessons or exams. Instead, let them study as much as they can comfortably. Encourage them to participate in sports or other activities. If the school offers extracurricular classes, consider enrolling them. This helps build a positive association with going to school.
