India and Pakistan are set for another high-stakes ICC showdown as Match 27 of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 takes place on Sunday, February 15, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The winner of this Group A contest will seal qualification for the Super Eights in the 20-team tournament.
But rain could play a decisive role in shaping the standings.
What is the weather report?
According to weather reports, there is a 65 percent chance of precipitation in Colombo on Sunday, raising concerns over a possible interruption. If rain forces a washout, both teams will be awarded one point each. In that case, there will be no major change to the points table. India will remain at the top with five points, while Pakistan is also expected to retain its position. Net run-rate (NRR) will remain unaffected in the event of a no result.

ICC rules and match cut-off time
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM IST and is expected to conclude by 10:10 PM. The ICC has provided an additional 60 minutes to complete the game on the same day in case of weather delays, extending the cut-off time to 11:10 PM. As per the T20 World Cup 2026 Playing Conditions laid down by the ICC, "Save for circumstances where a match is awarded to a team as a consequence of the opposing team’s refusal to play (clause 16.2), all matches in which both teams have not had an opportunity of batting for a minimum of 5 overs (10 overs in the semi-finals and final), shall be declared a No Result."
This means both teams must bat for at least five overs each for a result to be possible. Encouragingly, the chances of rain are expected to drop to 10 percent by 9:00 PM, keeping hopes alive for a full contest.
