The people around the world were most curious about everything from hot honey and AI chatbots to the Toronto Blue Jays. Google’s report does not reflect the overall most searched.

If Google did that, then certain generalised searches like the weather would be trending. Google’s “Year in Search” delves into certain queries that saw a significant rise in traffic in the year 2025.

Top Searches of Google: Chatbot, news queries

The top trending search this year was Google’s very own chatbot, “Gemini.” Gemini is not the only chatbot in the list, as it is accompanied by another chatbot, “DeepSeek,” which ranks seventh on the list.

Gemini was followed by “India vs England” and “Charlie Kirk.” The top spot for the recipes and food category is taken by “sweet and spicy condiment hot honey,” and “Marry Me Chicken” and “Chimichurri” made it to the top three.

The top trending news query is held by “Charlie Kirk Assassination,” followed by “Iran” and “US Government Shutdown.”
