A Kolkata woman's harrowing account of being followed at night has once again sparked discussions around the safety of women in the city. The young woman, named Noushinn, shared the experience through an Instagram reel that, since then, has gone widely viral.
‘Me peacefully trying to return home’
The girl posted the video on her Instagram account. Brut noted that the incident occurred at around 10:30 pm as she tried to head home from a wedding. She's riding a bike and filming the car next to her.

She then wrote, "Me peacefully trying to return home," turning the camera toward a car moving alongside her. A middle-aged man appeared behind the wheel, looking at her repeatedly. She then captioned, "The random uncle."
Brut reported that the car allegedly followed her for 10–15 minutes, turning several times before finally breaking off near her residence. She also said the man asked for her phone number and even gestured for her to step out of her vehicle when they stopped at a signal.
Despite this experience being quite unsettling, she did not lodge a police complaint because of her scepticism regarding the seriousness of her complaint.
Netizens react
The video has sparked an online outcry, with several netizens taking to social media sites to express concern over the repeated pattern of harassment women face on the roads.
