Saudi Arabia has relaxed rules for purchasing alcohol. From now on, foreigners who are not Muslim will also be able to buy alcohol there. However, conditions have been imposed regarding this. And locals are also making sarcastic comments about these imposed conditions.

Saudi Arabia's only liquor store is located in Riyadh. However, certain rules must be followed to purchase alcohol there. According to a New York Times report, it has been announced that foreigners who are not Muslim will be able to buy alcohol there. However, their monthly income must be at least 50,000 riyals (Saudi Arabia's currency) or approximately 13,300 dollars (about ₹11 lakh in Indian currency). Sources report that the buyers will also need to show proof of income or salary slips when purchasing alcohol. However, the identities of those who buy alcohol will not be disclosed. Additionally, they must be at least 21 years old.

It has been learned that the liquor store was opened just last year. Until now, only foreign diplomats could purchase alcohol from there. However, new measures have now been taken with the aim of increasing revenue from alcohol sales.

However, netizens are making sarcastic comments about this.

They have vented their anger about this on social media. They claim that these new rules have been made only for wealthy individuals. One person commented that showing proof of income to buy a bottle of alcohol is a kind of 'madness'. Yet another believes this means drinking is restricted only to the wealthy.
