In the midst of his seemingly never-ending pursuit to acquire Greenland, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared an AI image showing the autonomous island as "US territory established in 2026".

In the picture shared on Truth Social, Trump stands upfront holding the US flag proudly with vice-president JD Vance and Secretary Marco Rubio behind him. This comes ahead of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.

Trump targets Europe

Speaking to mediapersons ahead of the summit, Trump took aim at Europe for not paying serious attention to warning signs coming from NATO regarding the potential for a Russian threat to Greenland.

Speaking to reporters late Monday night, in Florida, Trump reiterated his allegations about Russian and Chinese influence but added that Denmark does not have enough defence capability.

He said: "We have to have it. They have to have this done. They can't protect it. Denmark, they're wonderful people and I know the leaders are very good people, but they don't even go there.

"And, you know, because the boat went there 500 years ago and then left, that doesn't give you title to property."

Continuing the narrative about his role in forcing countries to speed up defence spending, Trump was quoted as saying by IBC, "So we'll be talking about it with the various people. We've had tremendous success and we've, you know, I've done more for NATO than anybody else. I don't think you'd have NATO right now. I got him to go 5 per cent and pay, as opposed to 2 per cent and not pay. I've done more than any other American president for NATO by far."

'Very good call' concerning Greenland

Meanwhile, in another post on Truth Social, Trump said that he had a "very good telephone call" with Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, concerning Greenland. Trump announced that Rutte had agreed to a meeting in Davos.

"As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees!"

He added, "The United States of America is the most powerful Country anywhere on the Globe, by far. Much of the reason for this is a rebuilding of our Military during my First Term, which rebuilding continues at even more expedited pace."

"We are the only POWER that can ensure PEACE throughout the World — And it is done, quite simply, through STRENGTH! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP," he concluded.
