Gold and silver prices drop in international market, check Kolkata market rates

Gold prices in Kolkata fell by up to ₹950 per 10 grams on December 31, while silver remained unchanged locally despite sharp declines in global and MCX markets. Check latest bullion rates.

The prices of gold and silver have been rising consistently since the beginning of this year. However, the prices of these two precious metals have declined somewhat in the last two days of the year. On December 31, there was a significant drop in silver prices on the international market and Multi Commodity Exchange. Gold prices also decreased slightly. Let's see at what prices gold and silver will be traded in Kolkata's market on the last day of the year.

On Wednesday, the price of 24-carat pure gold per 10 grams decreased by 950 rupees. The price of 22-carat jewelry gold per 10 grams decreased by 900 rupees. There was no change in silver prices per kilogram in Kolkata on this day. However, silver prices fell significantly in the international market on this day. Silver prices also decreased on the country's Multi Commodity Exchange.

Gold prices in Kolkata's market on Wednesday: (excluding taxes)

Pure gold bar (24 carat): 1 lakh 33 thousand 700 rupees (per 10 grams)

Pure gold bar (retail): 1 lakh 34 thousand 350 rupees (per 10 grams)

Hallmarked jewelry gold (22 carat): 1 lakh 27 thousand 700 rupees (per 10 grams)

Silver (retail): 2 lakh 35 thousand 150 rupees (per kilogram)

You won't be able to buy gold at these exact rates when you go to the market. It will cost somewhat more than these rates. This is because GST and jewelry-making charges will be added to these rates. While GST is fixed at 3 percent, these charges may vary from shop to shop.
