Recently, multiple taxpayers across the country have received a message. The income tax department has sent notices primarily to salaried individuals and those who pay income tax. The message contains information related to TDS. Many taxpayers have been confused upon seeing this message. Various questions are arising in their minds about why such a message has come and whether there are any errors in tax-related information. However, the income tax department has stated that taxpayers have nothing to worry about.

What does this message mean?

The income tax department has informed that an 'acknowledgement' has been sent for the TDS deposited in the fourth quarter. Many people have received emails in addition to messages. However, this is not a punitive notice. It simply informs what information the income tax department has.

In an X post, the income tax department stated that this message or email has been sent to those where a noticeable difference has been found between the information provided in the ITR and the information received by the income tax department. This is so that taxpayers can be aware of the matter. If any changes need to be made to tax-related information, they can do so. Necessary steps can be taken by checking the AIS again. The income tax department has stated that this initiative is to encourage taxpayers to voluntarily correct any incorrect tax-related information or wrong steps.

Some references have come to the notice of the Income Tax Department regarding recent communication sent to taxpayers about transaction(s) made by them.
