The song, released by the filmmakers on Friday, is a reworked version of Sandese Aate Hai from the 1997 war drama Border. Although the original melody had been kept, fresh lyrics were written to suit a modern scenario. Several viewers appreciated the fact that the filmmakers hadn't overdone the process of remixing a song that is closely tied to national memory.

Netizens praise Sunny Deol, question Varun Dhawan
Soon after the music video dropped on YouTube, social media platforms were filled with comparisons between the cast members. Many users mentioned that Sunny Deol's short appearance did create an impact, whereas Varun Dhawan seemed uncomfortable in this setting.
One of the comments read, “Varun doesn’t have the charm needed here. He looks like a misfit." Another comment read, “Just one glimpse of Sunny Deol shows the difference."
Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, also appearing in the video, was appreciated for embodying control and emotional depth. Ahan Shetty, with a small role in this video also drew modest feedback.
