Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its new original series Single Papa, a family drama starring actor Kunal Kemmu. On Tuesday, Netflix premiered the light-hearted yet emotionally real teaser trailer on the unpredictable realities of raising a kid alone.
Created and co-produced by writer Ishita Moitra and filmmaker Neeraj Udhwani, it is jointly helmed by Shashank Khaitan, Hitesh Kewalya and Neeraj Udhwani with Khaitan also executive producing it. It is produced by Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan under their Juggernaut Productions banner, which has earlier backed several mainstream streaming titles.

A peep into Gaurav Gahlot's chaotic world
The trailer introduces the audience to Gaurav Gahlot, played by Kemmu, who struggles to juggle the demanding routine of single parenthood with the everyday unpredictability of life. From diaper blowouts and disturbed nights to unsolicited advice from well-meaning relatives and nosy friends, Gaurav's world is full of both exasperation and warmth. It highlights how he usually falters under extreme pressure but is always so determined to do right by the kid, capturing the vulnerability and resilience faced by many single parents.
Story focuses on family, love, and the messiness of parenting.
Single Papa positions itself as a heartfelt narrative centred around the bonds that define an Indian household. The show blends humour with emotional detail: loud family discussions, practical suggestions offered at the wrong time, sibling dynamics, and the comfort that comes from a close-knit support system. While the premise is rooted in day-to-day humour, the series also brings into the limelight the emotional labour that single parents quietly handle.
Strong supporting cast
Appearing alongside Kemmu are Manoj Pahwa, Neha Dhupia, Prajakta Koli and Ayesha Raza. Dhupia essays the role of Romilla Nehra, while Koli plays Gaurav’s sister Namrata, who often acts as his voice of reason.

Kemmu described portraying Gaurav as one of the most rewarding experiences of his career. Prajakta Koli said the show reflects the love, drama and noisy chaos which is common to Indian families. Neha Dhupia, a parent herself, noted that the series portrays parenting with honesty, showing both tenderness and emotional strain.
Single Papa will be hitting Netflix on December 12, further rounding out the platform's lineup of family-centered originals.
