The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Wednesday rejected viral claims that one of its examination-related portals had been compromised, saying there was no breach of candidates’ records or any sensitive examination data.

In a clarification issued after the posts spread on social media, ICAI said the reports had triggered concern among students, members and other stakeholders, but there was no basis for the allegations.

The institute also said the portal named in the claims, examiners.icaiexam.icai.org, is not connected to examination records, marks data, or answer books.

A lesson in what the system is, and is not

ICAI stated the portal is a training platform used for examiner orientation and not part of the systems that store or process candidates’ examination materials.

The institute described the circulating reports as “false, baseless, and mischievous" and urged students and members not to lend them credibility. It added that its examination processes are “robust, fully secure, and supported by a strong IT infrastructure with multiple layers of safeguards” intended to protect integrity and confidentiality.

The clarification comes amid heightened attention around the institute’s result announcements and the scrutiny that often follows major professional examinations.

Final results released alongside clarification

The institute’s response came on the same day it released the CA Final results on its official websites, icai.org and icaiexam.icai.org.

The CA Final examination was held between May 2 and May 20, 2026. For Group I, 54,606 candidates appeared and 6,555 passed, a pass percentage of 12%. In Group II, 42,573 candidates appeared and 8,725 cleared the exam, giving a pass percentage of 20.49%. Among candidates who appeared in both groups, 23,776 sat for the exam and 3,345 passed, translating to a pass percentage of 14.07%.

Institute warns against misinformation

ICAI said it was taking the matter seriously and warned that stringent legal action would be initiated against those spreading false claims. It also advised students to rely only on official communications for authentic updates and not to be misled by unverified social media campaigns.

The institute’s clarification sought to draw a clear line between the circulating allegations and the actual examination infrastructure, which it said remained secure and uncompromised.
