England's build-up to the FIFA World Cup has been disrupted by an unusual off-field incident after a significant quantity of training equipment was reportedly stolen shortly after arriving in Kansas City.

According to reports, vehicles transporting equipment to England's training base at Swope Soccer Village were allegedly broken into, resulting in the disappearance of several essential items. The incident comes just days before England's opening World Cup fixture against Croatia, adding an unexpected challenge to Thomas Tuchel's preparations.

The Football Association is currently assessing the extent of the losses while working closely with local law enforcement authorities.

Footballs, boots and coaching gear reportedly missing

Initial reports suggest that a range of equipment may have been taken during the theft.

Business Standard noted that among the missing items are believed to be footballs, players' boots and tactical equipment used by manager Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff. Some reports indicated that the squad was temporarily left with only a limited amount of training gear available while officials worked to determine the full scale of the loss.

The stolen equipment had reportedly been transported to England's training facility ahead of the team's first match of the tournament.

While the Football Association has not yet confirmed a complete inventory of missing items, the incident has generated significant attention given its timing during one of the most important periods of the team's campaign.

Police launch investigation and make arrests

Local authorities moved quickly after being informed about the suspected theft.

Business Standard noted that Kansas City police confirmed that an investigation had been launched and officers were working alongside representatives from the Football Association to establish exactly what happened.

According to reports, two individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case. However, investigators have not yet disclosed further details regarding the suspects or whether all of the missing equipment has been recovered.

Law enforcement officials stated that enquiries remain ongoing as they continue to gather evidence and assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Focus remains on Croatia opener

Despite the disruption, England's primary focus remains on its World Cup campaign.

Thomas Tuchel's side enters the tournament with high expectations and will begin its challenge against Croatia in a fixture that already carries added significance given the history between the two nations at major tournaments.

The coaching staff are expected to ensure that preparations continue as normally as possible despite the setback. Any missing equipment can likely be replaced quickly, but the incident serves as an unusual distraction at a time when attention is typically centred entirely on football matters.
