Delhi MCD By Election Result 2025: BJP dominates with 7 wins while AAP gets 3 wards

The State Election Commission announced the MCD by-election results for 12 wards, where voting was held on 30 November.

The results of the MCD by-elections were announced today, 3 December, by the State Election Commission. Voting for 12 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi took place on 30 November. Counting began at 8 am, and all results were declared by 10:50 am.

The BJP won the highest number of seats, securing 7 wards. AAP won 3 wards, Congress won 1 ward, and the All India Forward Bloc won 1 ward.

BJP candidates won in 7 wards in MCD by-election

From Chandni Chowk, BJP’s Suman Kumar Gupta defeated AAP’s Harsh Sharma by 1,182 votes.

Veena Asija won the Ashok Vihar seat for BJP by 405 votes.

In Shalimar Bagh, Anita Jain of BJP won by a large margin of 10,101 votes.

BJP’s Manisha Devi won the Dwarka-B ward by 9,100 votes, while Rekha Rani secured Dichaon Kalan with a margin of 5,637 votes.

In Greater Kailash, Anjum Mandal won by 4,065 votes. Sarala Chaudhari of BJP won Vinod Nagar by 1,769 votes.

AAP won 3 seats

Ramswaroop Kanojia defeated the BJP in Dakshinpuri by 2,262 votes.

Anil won in Mundka by 1,577 votes, and Rajan Arora won the Naraina ward by just 148 votes.

AIFB candidate Mohd Imran won in Chandni Mahal by 4,692 votes, defeating the AAP candidate.

Congress candidate Suresh Choudhary won from Sangam Vihar by 3,628 votes, beating the BJP candidate.

Why just only 12 wards?

Only 12 wards went to polls because these seats became vacant after 11 councillors were elected to the Delhi Assembly and one to Parliament. The Shalimar Bagh-B ward was vacated after its councillor was also elected from another seat. Polling took place at 580 booths.

Voter turnout was different in each ward. Chandni Mahal recorded the highest turnout at 55.93%, while Greater Kailash had the lowest at 26.76%. The overall turnout for the by-election was 38.51%.
