The Ahmedabad City Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the ICC Menâs T20 World Cup India 2026 Final, which will take place on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With a large number of spectators expected at the stadium, several traffic restrictions and diversions have been announced around the Motera area.
As per multiple reports, officials said the measures are intended to manage heavy traffic and ensure smoother movement near the venue. Commuters travelling through the surrounding areas have been advised to plan their routes and follow the diversion instructions issued by traffic authorities.
Roads closed for vehicle movement
As per the advisory, the road stretch from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium Main Gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Gam T-junction will remain closed for vehicle movement in both directions during the match.

Traffic police said vehicles will not be allowed to pass through this stretch during the event. Motorists have been urged to avoid the route and use alternate roads to prevent congestion near the stadium.

Alternate and diversion routes
Vehicles moving from Tapovan Circle towards ONGC Crossroads via Janpath T-junction have been advised to take internal roads before reaching the restriction point and continue through alternate routes suggested by the traffic department.
Similarly, vehicles coming through the Krupa Residency T-junction should take the left connector road and follow the designated diversion route to reach their destination.
Traffic personnel will remain deployed around the stadium area to guide commuters and regulate vehicle movement during the match hours.

Restrictions on public movement
In addition to traffic curbs, authorities have imposed restrictions under Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, in areas falling under the Ahmedabad City Police Commissionerate.
The restrictions will be in place on March 8 from 10:00 AM until midnight and will continue from 12:00 midnight to 2:00 AM on March 9.
Police said any violation of these orders will attract legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act. Officers have been authorised to register cases and take action against those who fail to follow the restrictions.
