BJP-led Mahayuti crosses 100 seats in BMC as counting continues

The BJP-led Mahayuti crossed the 100-seat mark in the BMC elections and is leading across major civic bodies in Maharashtra as vote counting continues.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti has touched the 100-mark in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, as counting of votes continues across 29 civic bodies across Maharashtra.

What do the numbers look like now?

The Mahayuti, comprising the BJP and the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), is currently leading in 102 seats in Mumbai. The Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and NCP (SCP) alliance is trailing with 57 leads in the 227-member-strong civic body. Currently, leads have come in for 167 seats in the BMC, India Today reported.

The Congress is leading in 3 seats in Mumbai, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has not recorded a single lead as of now in the financial capital of India.

BJP leads in other municipalities

Not only Mumbai, but the BJP-led alliance is also leading in all of the municipal corporations, the votes of which are being counted today. In Thane and Nagpur, the Mahayuti is inching towards securing a majority.

In Pune, the BJP is leading in 55 seats out of the 66 seats for which leads have come in till now, India Today reported. In Sambhajinagar, the BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena were not in alliance. The parties have been in a tough fight until now, with the BJP slightly ahead of its ally.

In Nagpur, 88 seats are being led by the BJP, out of the 121 seats for which leads have come in. The SS (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) combine seems vanquished in Mumbai, Thane, and Nashik, where the Thackerays concentrated the most before the elections.
