Bengal chemists body organises blood donation, health camp to mark anniversary

The BCDA organised a blood donation and free health check-up camp to commemorate the auspicious occasion of its 106th anniversary.

On January 9, the Bengal Chemists and Druggists Association (BCDA) celebrated its 106th anniversary. The BCDA organised a blood donation and free health check-up camp to commemorate the auspicious occasion. The programme was held at the DI Office, Chinsurah, Hooghly.

Headcount of participation

Nearly 60 people donated blood, and 450 people had themselves checked up in the free camp. The Department of Health took an active role in helping the organisation arrange the services for the people during the camp. People with eyesight issues were prioritised in the health camp. The camp also helped orphans get their health checked at the camp.

Who attended the event?

MLAs Asit Majumder and Tapan Dasgupta, Ranjan Dhara, Sabhadhipati, Hooghly Zilla Parishad, Mriganka Mouli Kar, CMOH, Hooghly, and Pradyut Bannerjee, State Secretary of BCDA, attended the event.

Subrata Shome, Secretary of the Chemist and Druggist Association, Hooghly-Chinsurah Division, told News Ei Samay, “Our aim is ‘service to immunity’. We have been of great help to several people during the ‘Biswa Ijtema Sammelan’, which took place in the areas of Puinan and Dadpur. We had collaborated with the state’s health department during this program to provide the necessary services. We have distributed huge amounts of medicine during the Sammelan."

“This is just one out of many initiatives we take during the year. Whenever a natural calamity hit the nearby areas, we are among the first to reach the affected areas and offer assistance to the people. Our organisation has undertaken certain initiatives to save the nature. We have successfully planted 250-plus mahogany trees across the district to save the area from air pollution. We are keen and devoted to helping people improve their health and life,” he added.
