The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the youth-led movement that drew attention with its recent protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, has announced a series of demonstrations across the country demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The group said it would intensify its campaign in the coming days and launch an indefinite sit-in at Jantar Mantar if its demand is not met.

Protests to begin in multiple cities

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CJP announced a nationwide protest programme beginning in Pune on June 11. Demonstrations are also planned in Lucknow, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Hyderabad.

The organisation said the campaign would continue until Pradhan steps down.

The movement, which began as a satirical social media account, has evolved into a larger youth-driven campaign focused on alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and concerns about the education system.

Warning of indefinite sit-in from June 20

The CJP described the issue as one affecting millions of students and families across the country.

"The Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has failed to take responsibility for these repeated failures. Accountability must begin at the top. That is why we reiterate our demand: Dharmendra Pradhan should resign."

The group also warned of a prolonged protest in the national capital if no action is taken.

"If the government does not answer this demand and remove the minister, or if he does not offer his resignation, the youth of this country will gather together on June 20 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for an indefinite peaceful sit-in protest till the minister resigns. We will not leave until accountability is delivered," it added.

Call for students and citizens to join

The CJP said its campaign is aimed at protecting the integrity of India's education system and ensuring students do not suffer due to institutional failures.

The organisation has invited students, parents, teachers and citizens from across the country to participate in what it described as a fight for accountability and justice.

Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said on X that climate activist Sonam Wangchuk would join the protest in Pune.

The group has gained visibility in recent weeks through social media campaigns and public demonstrations, including the large gathering at Jantar Mantar last week.
