The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday began asking protesters to vacate Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister, a development the party described as a victory for the student movement.

Earlier, CJP convener Abhijeet Dipke had said the organisation would continue to press for compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide in connection with the examination controversy and action against police personnel over the crackdown on protesters during the July 20 march.

In a letter addressed to the country’s youth and shared on X, Pradhan said he was accepting moral responsibility for the developments surrounding the NEET-UG examination while defending the Centre’s handling of the controversy.

He said the government transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after irregularities were detected, cancelled the examination and conducted a fresh test through a “whole-of-government approach.”
