Government says operations ‘stabilising’; DGCA steps in
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said, "The flight operations are stabilising fast," adding that no overcrowding or distress is reported by the airports. He claimed that safety continues to be the top priority of the aviation sector. IndiGo operated 1,800 flights yesterday, up from 706 on December 5, indicating a gradual recovery, he said.

Earlier in the day, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered IndiGo to trim its operations by 5% across sectors, citing the airline’s inability to execute its winter schedule efficiently and a growing backlog of cancellations. IndiGo is directed to submit a revised schedule by 5 pm on December 10, 2025. IndiGo was cleared for 15,014 weekly departures, translating to 64,346 flights for November 2025, the DGCA notice said, but the airline could only operate 59,438 flights with 951 cancellations recorded for the month.
