It is very common to have dry and rough skin in winter. Cold winds, low moisture in the air, and high usage of hot water draw away all the natural oils and moisture from the skin. That is why just applying any cream does not work. Even after moisturising, the skin might be dull and dehydrated. Proper winter skin care requires regular care.

Here's how you can keep your skin bright and glowing even in the cold months:
Choose the right cleanser
Foaming or harsh cleansers make skin drier during winter. Switch to a sulphate-free, moisturising cleanser. Cream-based or gel-based cleansers clean the face without stripping away natural oils.
Avoid hot water
In winter, many people wash their faces with hot water, which further reduces the moisture. Cold water is ideal; it cleans the face without disturbing the skin's hydration.
Replace toners with hydrating mists or essences
Also, if you use any alcohol-based toners, avoid them in winter. Instead, choose a hydrating mist or essence containing hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, rose water, or snail mucin. These help deliver moisture deeper into the skin.
Choose the right moisturiser
Light creams often don’t work in winter. You need something thicker, more nourishing. Packed with ceramides to help restore the skin barrier, hyaluronic acid to retain moisture, glycerin to keep skin soft, and squalane or shea butter for nourishment. The best results are achieved by applying moisturiser within two minutes of washing your face.
Use moisturising masks
A hydrating sheet mask or gel mask used 2-3 times a week will instantly soften the skin and make it radiant. Masks containing aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or oats work exceptionally well.

Lip care shouldn't be forgotten
Lips get dry fastest in winter. Apply lip balm throughout the day-shea butter, honey, or cocoa butter-based balms are the most effective ones.
Drink enough water
Your body also loses moisture during winter, so keeping hydrated maintains the healthiness of the skin from the inside and reduces roughness. Follow this routine and your skin will stay soft, glowing and supple throughout winter.
