High steep hills on both sides, blue waters in the middle. Do you know where this gorge-like place is? Located in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya, surrounded by hill rivers, is a gorge called Wari Chora. The narrow river path is approximately 1 kilometre long and 45 feet deep.
Three waterfalls can be seen in the gorge. Besides cascading, this gorge also features two more waterfalls named Re-nang and Chibok Dare. If anyone likes adventure, this place is ideal for hiking.
The Rongdik River flows slowly between two massive rock formations. On both sides of the river are high rocky walls and lush green dense jungle. Very little sunlight reaches inside this gorge. When the rays do reach it, the crystal-clear water appears blue.
The distance from Shillong to this gorge is 285 kilometres. To reach this gorge, many people come via Shillong or Guwahati. Then they drive to reach Baghmara.
Baghmara is about a 2-hour drive. The bumpy roads seem scary but provide an unforgettable experience.
After that, a small trek leads to the gorge. October to May is the best season to see this gorge. During this time, the weather remains pleasant and the river water stays clear.
Boat rides can be taken through this gorge. This is the main attraction here. There are numerous small viewpoints here. Besides hiking, there are also opportunities for river rafting. This place is also excellent for photography.

Near the South Garo Hills, not only Wari Chora, but also Siju Cave is visible. If you enter the cave, flocks of bats might charge at you, so be careful.
During the monsoon, the high hills of the gorge appear slippery. So you can visit during seasons other than the monsoon. Many wild birds can also be seen throughout the gorge.
