According to a study by Mokana A P Muthu Kumarasamy published in the Asian Social Science journal, maintaining balance between work and life significantly boosts mental health, strengthens relationships, and improves overall quality of life.

Set clear boundaries

Define when your workday starts and ends. Try to switch off work notifications after your work hours to avoid getting drawn into emails or calls. This helps prevent burnout and ensures personal time is truly yours.

Take micro-breaks

Short, regular breaks can refresh your mind. According to research on "micro-breaks," even 10-minute pauses throughout your day significantly reduce fatigue and boost energy. Use this time to stand up, stretch, breathe, or just step away from your desk for a few minutes.

Embrace flexible work

If possible, discuss flexible work hours or a hybrid work model with your employer. A study of over 1,000 workers found that hybrid working made people happier, less stressed, and more productive.

We all have moments when we’re waiting—on a call, in a line, or commuting. A two-week experience-sampling study found that people often spend this time on leisure, but they also use it productively to support their work-life balance.
