On Sunday night during IPL 2026 final against GT, Tim David had played an innings of 24 off 17 deliveries while chasing 156 for RCB. At 91/4, he came out to bat along with Virat Kohli and the duo stitched a strong partnership of 41 runs to help RCB post at a stable position with David hitting three fours and a six during his cameo.

However, during the 10th over of GT's inning, David was seen throwing an ice pack in a furious manner at umpire Nitin Menon. For this, David was banned for one match. Therefore, in the upcoming year Tim David would miss the first match of RCB in IPL 2027. It is not the first time, though.

David breaching IPL Code of Conduct

The RCB batsman has been fined with 50 percent of his match fees, given two Demerit points for breaching the IPL's level 1 Code of Conduct during IPL 2026 final match against GT in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday.

David had been fined as per Article 2.9 of the IPL's code of conduct which states 'Throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a player, team official, umpire, match referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner is offensive and punishable'.

This was during the 10th over of Gujarat Titans' first innings where David threw the ice bag aggressively at the umpire Nitin Menon post a fall of wicket. He pleaded guilty and accepted the penalty levied by Javagal Srinath, the match referee of IPL 2026 Final.

"Accordingly, he will be suspended for RCB's first match of next IPL season or the first match of the franchise he represents in IPL 2027" it added.
