No-handshake culture spreads as Bangladesh avoid customary toss greeting against India in U-19 World Cup

A handshake snub at the rain-delayed toss intensified India–Bangladesh U-19 tensions, overshadowed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi historic fifty

India and Bangladesh's conflict reached to another stage when Bangladesh refused to shake hands with Indian captain Ayush Mhatre in the toss. Bangladesh regular captain Md Azizul Hakim Tamim was sidelined because of illness and vice captain Zawad Abrar came as stand-in captain in the toss which was delayed due to rain.

The toss was delayed due to the rain, It was won by Bangladesh and they chose to field. After the toss, the Bangladesh players refused to shake hands though no official statement about it has come yet.

This trend of no handshake after toss has started from the Asia Cup when India refused to shake hands with Pakistan.

Amid the ongoing controversy, Bangladesh went on the same line on Saturday. Also, two ICC officials went to meet the BCB officials to come to a common ground for the world cup on the same day. Batting first, the Indian team lost control at the start after losing 2 wickets in 12 runs. Vaibhav and Abhigyan Kundu stood tall for India.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a fifty

Amid all of the controversies, the 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to hammer a fifty in the special event at the age of 14 years and 296 days. On the big event when Suryavanshi stood up the Indian team was not in a great stage, Vaibhav hammered 72 runs in 67 balls with 6 fours and three sixes.
