Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma stole the spotlight at the IPL auction as two of the biggest uncapped buys, both securing ₹14.20 crore deals. Veer, picked by Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, offers balance with his left-arm bowling and useful lower-order batting, making him the highest-paid uncapped player and CSK’s most expensive Indian signing. Kartik Sharma, meanwhile, earned his big move after a phenomenal Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where the Rajasthan batter impressed with consistent and match-winning performances.
Veer’s rise has been impressive. In a very busy few weeks, he travelled back and forth between Mumbai and Kolkata and played six matches in just seven days, taking part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Uttar Pradesh’s Under-23 games. He finished the first tournament with 112 runs, scoring quickly at a strike rate of 170, and also took nine wickets while keeping his economy rate low at 6.76. This showed that he can contribute with both bat and ball as a true all-rounder. His strong performances caught the attention of Chennai Super Kings, who invited him for trials as they search for a future replacement for Ravindra Jadeja.
